According to them it's the slimmest 24 inch flat panel.

1920x1200
2ms GTG response time
Looks a little like a thinner iMac
Available this month in Asia, next month in the US.

Apple, where is your thin monitor? Apple Cinema Display Air...

Oh and a multi-touch mighty mouse while you are at it. The mighty mouse works good as it is but having it multi-touch should allow you to use both buttons at the same time or other things that require independent use of the left and right button. Right now it's just single touch.

I'm moving next month and I was wondering if anyone had any tips when it comes to disposing of old CRT monitors. I know they have toxic chemicals inside and are hazardous and most likely illegal to just dump. I was doing a quick search and it seems there is a local place that can recycle them but they cost 25 dollars a monitor. I have two monitors that I need to get rid of. The reason why I replaced them because they where on the blink\non working. I'm curious as to what others in my friends list might have done if\when they got rid of any CRT computer monitors they may have had.

Look at this display for example:

I wouldn't mind putting that next to my Mac Mini.

Interesting thing about OLED displays is they can have much better contrast than any LCD or Plasma screen out there right now. They have a much wider viewing angle. Plus they can be put in just about anything. You can even make a screen that rolls up with it or a mirror with OLEDs sandwhiched in it so it becomes a screen when you hit a power button.

First off I ordered the matching Mac Mouse I wanted.... it's not the uber high DPI mice but it's at a good price and it matches and has two real buttons and a scrollwheel. I can't wait until it comes in.. it'll be about a week before it does though.

Apple has added Dual Quad Core systems to their site.. Octo Core anyone? I already imagine some people saying they wouldn't need it but I read that there is benefits up to 16 cores on the desktop. Only problem is they have upgraded the CPUs but aren't offering upgaded GPUs to go with it. Highest they still offer is 7300 on nvidia and X1900 on ATI.. the ATI isn't too bad but bigger and better cards are coming out from both and the 8800 is already out on nvidia and should be an option when you are getting a top of the line computer like a Mac Pro. But there isn't even an option to get one when you are customising a Mac Pro on their web site.

Perhaps they are waiting for Leopard? I don't know.. either way I'm not happy with how they are dealing with upgrades thus far.. the CPU isn't the only important thing in a computer you know. I also think on a top of the line computer you should expect options for all top of the line components. To make things worse you can't use regular video cards with the Mac Pro because it uses different firmware than a typical PC so the video cards need different firmware too.

Seems like all Apple cares about right now is their shiny little intel chips. I'm an Apple fan but I'm not that intoxicated by the Apple Kool-Aid. =P

Apple has lowered the prices for the Apple Cinema displays but it's still about 600 bucks for the smallest one. That's about as much as I paid for my computer (without display, speakers, keyboard & mouse).

Apple Cinema Display (20" flat panel) [$599]

Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel) [$899]

Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel) [$1799]

At least they are steadily going down in price.. it seems by around 100 bucks each time they lower the price.

I was on an image board recently (which shall go nameless) looking through their wallpaper section. There was a comment that bugged me.. not enough to make me want to take the person on but enough for me to make a comment here. The person said that 1024x768 is the perfect resolution for wallpapers since "most" people use it and it can be scaled to whatever higher resolution without losing quality. This person said that most people who run higher resolutions do it to look "l33t" to their internet friends and do it despite them hurting their eyes. All of that is a load if I ever heard one.

First of all it may be true that a lot of people might be using 1024x768 but it's hardly the best resolution for wallpapers. Some things might look OK when saved at that resolution and then scaled up to larger resolutions but it still looks fuzzy and not nearly as sharp as something made real big and then scaled down to whatever you use. I personally hate it when people distribute wallpapers at 1024x768 or below because when they do that the resolution that the wallpaper originally had was destroyed when they saved it especially when they save it as jpg. There actually is no sweet spot as monitors are coming out that are bigger and bigger all the time but I always like it when they come out with walls that are around 1600x1200.

Part of what brings a friend of mine's desktop down when it comes to looks is he often uses lower resolution pictures than his desktop size and scales them up... sometimes I choose lower resolution pics too but often times when I do that I edit the pictures to increase the canvas size but keep the subject at the same size so it doesn't have to be stretched.

Second of all not everyone who runs high res uses a 14 inch monitor and are masochists. I use 1024x768 on my laptop with its 14 inch monitor because it's the native resolution of the monitor. The native resolution of my Mac's monitor is 1280x1024 so I use that there. Native resolution is the best resolution to use on flat panels and I experience no eye strain from doing so.

Another person said they see no reason to have a gigantic screen. Maybe they have no reason to use a gigantic screen but personally I do. Especially when I am working with graphics or heck.. I find use for all the space I have on my 1280x1024 desktop and more.

No I'm not really taking those people's comments to heart but I just wanted to say something about it here. I respect other people's choices\preferences but I have my own after all. I just sort of hate it when people try to foist theirs on me. I've had quite a bit of walls that are 1024x768 or below on my mac but I'm cleaning them out and only keeping the highest resolution especially since in the future I might get a bigger better monitor.

At one time I actually agreed with them about using that particular resolution and scaling it but not anymore. When it comes to wallpapers the bigger the better.. especially considering the wide range of sizes of monitors out there.

Look at them here

I saw these tonight and I thought they where interesting. They are hard drives that are like big lego bricks. Eventually I am going to want to get some kind of external hard drives so I for example can run my Intel Mac but then sometimes hook up an external drive to it and boot Windows Vista off of it. Or simply to backup my files.

Here is something else that looks pretty good to me. It's a 19-inch flat panel Monitor that was made especially for the Mac Mini. I have been wanting to get a flat panel and I have 3 candidates one this one, one is a 17-inch from Shuttle XPC and the third of course is an 20-inch Apple Cinema display.

I just think it would be cool to have a stylish looking flat panel monitor to complement my mac mini rather than the bulky CRT I have now (mine is the same model but looks different). Although it's not a bad monitor at all it's better than the one I am using on my PC. The BenQ and Shuttle XPC monitors aren't widescreen though like the ACD is and I'd like to have widescreen eventually.
