They've come for brains, you give them bullets!

This trailer is amusing to me because it pretty much apes Grindhouse. In particular it looks a lot like Planet Terror... complete with stripper\go go dancer licking a wiimote. Yes, this is a commecial for a Wii game. o_O Actually, if they follow through and carry over this style into the actual game that might be pretty cool. The only other game that comes close to being Planet Terror: The Game that I can think of is Left 4 Dead.. especially the latest revisions.

Shoot, I need a Wii.

It's called "Ninja Reflex" using the new "steamworks" multiplayer stuff they released for developers to use for free recently. It's only $9 on Steam.

"Master the Art of Speed and become a Ninja Gamer! Ninja Reflex uses martial arts challenges to test your reflexes, sharpen your hand-eye coordination, and measure your reaction times to the millisecond. Wield throwing stars, katanas, nunchucks…even chopsticks! Progress from White Belt all the way to Black Belt, 3rd Degree, and see if you can complete the 50+ Steam achievements on your journey!"

It's also available for the Wii (for $40) and DS ($30). It may actually be better on the Wii simply because of the controller (especially for multiplayer). But it's still cool to see that the PC isn't left out in the cold. Since the wiimote can be hooked up to the PC it's version should be made compatible with it too. It may also work good with the Mouse too but I would like to try it out before I say so. There's a demo out.. *Contemplates heading to my PC and getting on Steam*.

The system requirements are pretty low for a new game.. I guess because it pretty much is a Wii port. It only requires a 1GHz CPU, 256MB of RAM, and a DX9 card (doesnt specify which).

One of the things Nintendo has announced is Mario Kart Wii and a racing wheel to go with it.. they have the above photo of the guy from Nintendo of America holding it. Is it just me or does it look like he's holding a babies toy? Awww look at the wiiddle biidle wii wheel! I half expect for the darn thing to squeak if he squeezed it or have a squeaky button on the center of it. =P

I'm still most excited about Super Mario Galaxy.

I'm not sure I like the idea of the zapper combining the wiimote and the nunchuck because I like how you can move them independent of each other. Kind of like how in the Half-Life 2 Wiimote mod you could use the wiimote to aim and the nunchuck to turn by moving them and then the analog stick to move forward\backward and strafe left and right.

I think Adia might like how in the new Metroid game it doesn't matter where you are aiming you are still locked on to the enemies but that's not for me. I want to actually have to aim at the enemy... no offense.

I was telling someone today that the way the Wii remote works probably works best with games designed for it (like the new DBZ game a friend wrote about recently) and this is a good example of what I mean. It turns out there is a problem with the Wii remote and first person shooters... there just is controllers that fit certain genres the best and the Wii remote will definitely have it's genres that it works best with. For first person shooters the keyboard and mouse is still the best control although I think it might be a good idea if you want analog control for movement to create a special keypad where depending on how hard or far down you press the up, down and strafe left and right key the faster you go. Or a joystick+mouse combo might not be a bad thing.

The Wii remote needs some kind of head mounted display in order to work in a first person shooter if they just have it setup so you actually have to turn around a full 360 in order to turn around in the game (virtual reality anyone?). There are probably a lot of older types of games that are not good for it as well and that's why they made the Wii classic controller especially for the older console emulation that is included in the console. Some people just say that people will just "have to" adjust to the Wii remote with when it comes to first person shooters though I'm like no you don't. You can use whatever you want there are choices. I also don't like them putting down people who might have a different preference.... it's mostly fanboys who do that.

I also really believe that certain control schemes suit certain games best. For FPS, strategy games and third person games that are like FPS like Alice I think mouse and keyboard is the best control. For fighting games like Soul Calibur, Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat a fighting stick is the best just like in the arcade cabinets. For 2D platform games and shooters a gamepad is the best. For driving games a driving wheel is best. For rail shooting games a light gun is best (although I do see that the wii remote on the right side has a trigger which makes it almost like a gun). Though those are just my personal preferences I don't begrudge others from using what works best for them.

Super mario Galaxy looks like it'd work well with the remote because of changes they undoubtedly made with the game. I'm not against the Wii remote really but I'm no nintendo zealot (aka fanboy). To some I might seem like some kind of fanboy\zealot\what have you but I like PC and Mac (not just one over the other), and I don't mind consoles though I prefer to put my money into a PC\Mac. I choose not to argue with zealots because it's a futile waste of time.

"This is something that complainers frequently forgot you have to adjust to a new control scheme and that takes loosening up the rectum and more then [sic] a few minutes on a game. Someone coming fresh onto the wii fps will decimate those stuck in the past on fps."

Is it just me or does this reek of fanboyism. An average person who never played a FPS before might just end up being lost in the game spinning, going the wrong way, looking at the floor.. just like a new person with any controller and a FPS game. A person who is used to keyboard and mouse might pick up the control and do well but still prefer the keyboard and mouse. Then I wonder if this person would suggest that a new person on a Wii remote would "decimate" an experienced person who is playing with keyboard and mouse in a multiplayer game Wii vs PC. I don't think so.

Check out this Super Mario Galaxy boss battle! It looks interesting.

Dell is having a sweepstakes to give away a limited edition new Dell XPS with the X-men last stand logo on the side. They also have a long clip there to watch.

A funny thing this morning is I was talking to Adia on the phone and I asked her what she is watching and she said star trek but she was sounding low in volume so it sounded like Bear Trap to me. I was like Bear Trap?! o_o;

*EDIT*

If you want to see a higher res Mario Galaxy video right click this link and save as I recommend VLC for viewing it. On the PC VLC worked ok but on the Mac I had to use MPlayer.

This controller for the Wii looks better to control certain games that than the other controller they designed doesn't suit. Although I would have preffered 6 buttons on the face of it especially since this controller is most likely the controller people are going to use when they want to play older games such as N64 games which they are going to offer for download to the Wii though it does have enough buttons to emulate the SNES. The image came with a white bg so I figured it might as well be a transparent png because the white bg only looks good on a white page.

I just saw this and it looks interesting to me it's the new Alienware laptop it has a 19 inch screen and SLI graphics! The color is a color shifting chameleon paint. It has a full sized keyboard with seperate numeric pad.

The bed\computer desks at this site are cute, not practical maybe but cute nonetheless. Makes me think of what might be a good idea for a person going to college and living in a dorm room I think maybe something like this might be a better deal\work better in practice. I've read you can get one for about 300 bucks from ikea which might also look nicer than that one i linked to but that pic just gives someone an idea of what they could do combining a computer area and a loft bed. BTW, I myself have no need for one myself I just like thinking of interesting ideas whether I would do them or not.
