Sushi & Silent Hill
Jun. 4th, 2006 10:03 pmThis afternoon my famliy came over and we first wen't to a sushi\teppan grill resteraunt and then to the dollar moves and saw Silent Hill. I won't put any spoilers for SH here suffice to say that I enjoyed it. It was great going to a good sushi resteraunt. You know what i don't like? When you are trying to watch a movie and you are into it and there is people behind you making comments like saying "the end" when there is a silent part. =p
Anyway, The resteraunt was called Azuma and when you eat there they first bring you out some soup and a cucumber salad and then that is followed up by the sushi\other things of your choice and then they bring you oranges that are cut in a special way so that you can eat them with chopsticks and then some of my relateives ordered some green tea ice cream.
The only thing is my parents and grandma where there and they are clueless when it comes to that kind of thing. They where real messy with their food because they couldn't use the chopsticks and only my Dad asked for a fork my mom and grandma chose to be stubborn and struggle with the chopsticks making a complete mess of their food. But it was totally worth it to have some good sushi. The yellow tail fish sushi was especially delicious. I'm telling you.. it was so good!
My sister and I had something in common though as we actually have practice eating with chopsticks so it was no problem for us to get some sushi with our chopsticks and put it on our plates and dip it into things like soy sauce and eat it like normal. My parents however where kind of ham handing it especially when they would grab the sushi from the serving plates with their hands and I would bet the way they ate sushi would look uncivilized to some people... uh, lol. I think my family with the exception of my sister and I of course should get those spring loaded clothespin like training chopsticks so they can learn how to eat with them.
Speaking of my sister I can't seem to relax when she was around and I wasn't feeling like saying much with her there because i feel like she is constantly evaluating and judging the things people say and she says things sometimes that kind of grate my nerves but I don't respond to it because i don't want to argue with her. Nala said hi to my family when they where here and my mom said she remembers my sister and my sister proclaims "YEAH I RAISED HER!" a few times. =p My mom said that she would like to bring the family together and have everyone be closer but I can't seem to figure out the way to handle my sister. She told me that she has had a hard time with my sister and someone told her, "remember, you are the adult". So she tells me not to worry about what my sister thinks or how she responds because that is just her. But I still can't seem to feel comfortable enough to be myself when she is around.
*edit* I just wanted to add a link to the site of the sushi place I went to today link They have a separate teppan grill section and a separate sushi area so it's not a japanese restaurant that serves sushi.
