I have a bluetooth headset hooked up to the laptop in the other room and skype setup there... the bluetooth there (using an adapter) works in a range up to 50 feet from the laptop so I can make calls over the internet that way. I could be talking on skype and walk all around the house if I wanted. I'm thinking of going ahead and getting a phone number that others can call me through with Skype and telling my family to turn off long distance on our regular phone and just using Skype to make those calls.

Somehow they opened an Apple store in my town and I didn't even know of it. I called them today and asked if they have any openings and they do have a few for "Mac Specialist". I went ahead and applied online. Hopefully something will come of this.

Has anyone heard of Google 411 (1800-GOOG411)? It's a new 411 telephone service by Google. I tried it out today by having it search for the number to the local Apple store. But it was unable to find it.. it only found other stores that happen to sell Apple merchandise like CompUSA,Baillos and a few educational institutions. I ended up having to look up the ABQ Apple store on the web and their phone number was on Apple's web site. =P So I kind of don't think Google 411 is ready for prime time.

My family got me a 24 dollar USB Skype phone at wal-mart. A mac specific one is coming in for me later this week and I'll get to that in a minute..

A USB Phone that is compatible with skype is a phone, numbers and all that hooks up to the USB port on your computer and allows you to make phonecalls. Most USB Phones right now are mainly PC compatible meaning they need a driver\application to be loaded in addition to the skype program for their buttons to work like the numbers and the back\forward buttons the cancel button, and the ok button. Otherwise it just works as a mic\seperate speaker on your computer.

So on my mac with that particular handset the buttons don't work because there is no app to make it work with so I used it and it worked but you have to just use the skype contact list to do everything. On the PC laptop I hooked it up to the numbers on the phone work with the drivers and the ok\cancel buttons work so you can just use it like a regular phone if you want. Also the back\forward buttons cycled through the contacts on my contact list. So in order to have a phone that works like that on the mac I have to get one that specifically has mac support like a few I have seen on the internet. I have a corded one coming but later I'd like to get a cordless one especially so I can use my headset but those are at least 70 bucks. Or I could get a phone adaptor and use my current cordless phones with skype.

How's the quality you ask? Well.. it partly depends on the quality of device you have hooked up and I bet also your connection but on my internet connection (cable) it seemed to for the most part be on par with a regular phone. With this handset I had at least on the mac seemed to have a slight echo sometimes but nothing unbearable. Some phones come with cancelation for that as well.

The only question is what will it cost at the end of the year when it's no longer free to make skype to phone calls. Skype to Skype calls will always be free but you have to know people who also have skype for that and most people just have regular phones or cell phones.

I have been recharging myself after a whole week of school and junk and I got up extra late today. Well I figured since I got up extra late that at least that will mean I won't have to wait long to talk to a certain person but I still waited all night for her and at this point I don't think she is going to be calling which sucks to me. So I'm going to have to wait a whole other day to hear from her. It really bums me out. If I don't hear from her tomorrow it makes me wonder if I should call her on monday like I usually do on weekdays or just continue waiting since she seems to be in no hurry to talk to me.

Then there happened to also be nobody else to talk to at all today either.

I just felt like venting a little about that.

I would like one of the OS X LJ clients to be updated to allow filling out the new fields they have added such as location.

I'm feeling kind of anxious now because I don't know what my family is doing. The reason why it makes me feel anxious is because I'm low on food and I need them to come here so I can get groceries and last week they stopped by on monday an hour before class so I wasn't able to do anything that day and I am like what if they do the same thing this week. They had called today but I had the ringer off because of all the unsolicited calls I have been getting which disturb me in the morning but I was hoping that when I shut the main ringer off that the individual rings that I set up for each person in my phone directory would still work but when you shut the main ringer off it shuts off ALL ringers. So I just noticed by looking at the caller ID that they called like an hour or two earlier and I tried calling them a few times and no one answered.

I am getting fed up with these 1-800 number calls. They have been calling me at least 10 times a day 7 days a week. I mean COME ON! While I am talking to Adia (which I do quite a bit) on the phone I constantly hear them on call waiting. Today I answered the phone and told them please don't call here anymore you call over 10 times a day!
