Something interesting I noticed at the big theater today. I noticed a lot of people who had their own outside food waiting to see a movie out in the hallway. I guess the Century Rio doesn't have a rule against outside food like the dollar movies do? Maybe it's because the dollar movies makes all their money from the snack bar? I can't say I blame the people who brought their own food to century rio though the prices of the food there is crazy.. my dad bought 3 drinks.. two medium popcorns and two boxes\bags of candies and it costed twenty five dollars bringing the whole cost of the trip to around fifty dollars for three people. I guess that might not sound like much to some of you out there but it does to me.

Another thing I noticed when it comes to snacks is that they have two kinds of snack-bars close together there.. one has the typical theater stuff and the other has gourmet and cafe stuff. At the regular bar you get nachos that come with a little cup of cheese and and at the other bar you get gourmet nachos with more ingredients and more cheese. I'm almost like who wants those other pitiful nachos when you can get those other gourmet nachos.. but i assume those other ones are more expensive to boot.

I noticed they have upgraded the theater to be able to display "REALD" 3D cinema. A newer type of 3D that is superior to the old anaglyph red and cyan glasses 3D. It uses the "polarized" method that uses slightly tinted glasses with a different shade of tint on each lense. I have tried a similar system before when I saw Captain EO at Disneyland and it does give a very pronounced 3D effect. I just didn't think this system would be brought to my state it didn't seem like it was going to and suddenly it has popped up in my local cinema. Too bad it didn't come in time for nightmare before christmas 3D though.. and I sort of wish it would come to more movies than just Disney.

I heard quite a bit of high profile directors are on board and it may not be too long before we can see more movies with REALD. This is something we probably won't see at home soon as I am not sure how they would do a polarized 3D film on a typical home screen.

My family told me they opened a similar theater in Santa Fe. I guess they are really successful since they have around 3 multiplexes here.. own at least two dollar movies here and now they might be opening up some in Santa Fe.

*edit* Wait a minute.... I thought that Nightmare Before Christmas 3D had already come and gone.. but it's coming out THIS fall along with a 3D Vincent short before the film starts.... hmm.... I guess I may be able to see it after all. Since there is a theater that is prepared here in my town to play 3D movies in time for it.

First of all I want to showcase this movie since the trailer is official and you can readily download it and watch it. This is the story that the main character in Last Samurai told the general before they faced their final battle. It has good visuals and I think it's going to be a neat movie when it comes out. On my Mac Mini I always tend to pick the 480p versions since my computer isn't fast enough to play the higher resolution ones decently... but as they say YMMV. If you have at least 2Ghz I'm sure you can download the 1080p one.

I was going to embed the trailer for Grindhouse (taken from Spike) here but they took it off of Youtube due to "copyright violations" (that's what I get for waiting). I think some of you might be surprised that I would be interested in that movie as I might seem pretty conservative to some but I do like Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez and I sometimes like to see things that are absurd and over the top. But yet I'm still selective on exactly what (as with everything)... like for example I haven't been too interested in the Saw movies... and I didn't particularly care for Slither. I'm not interested too much in the new texas chainsaw massacre because I had enough seeing the uh... sequel? (Since the new one is a prequel =p).

I'm sort of interested in seeing the new Grudge movie although I am surprised that SMG's character survived the first one I was almost certain she died. You see, I grew up on horror movies and at one time I used to rent B movies all the time particularly the ones by Full Moon Studios (I own a collection of Puppet Master figures which I have on display). But as I get older I find I'm more picky... I used to rent just about anything as long as the cover struck me as interesting looking and since the place I used to rent from used to have 50 cent movies in the sections that weren't new releases I used to watch TONS of stuff.

Other film stuff: Here is another interesting film to me (.mov format) it has interesting visuals and crisp sound the music is interesting. I wouldn't mind having an MP3 of it.

On the lighter side I want to see Little Miss Sunshine and Happy Feet (I tend to like CG cartoons but this one looks extra special to me). I usually take my family to go see comedies or CG cartoon type movies as it can get pretty awkward taking them to a movie where there might be nudity\etc. like for example the love scenes in Underworld II where pretty awkward to watch with them.

One thing I want to mention is how I'm tired of TVs I would like to move toward moving all my video watching to a computer with a good TV tuner card. Especially since I like the resolution on computer monitors better than TV's. Although I might end up hooking up a LCD tv to a computer if I find a good one with good resolution and computer inputs.

It's pretty interesting to me how Rob Zombie is hosting a thing on TCM called "TCM Underground" tonight they where showing Ed Wood movies. They are going to be showing more cult films on there and that's pretty interesting to me... I enjoy a good cult classic.

One last thing and this is what I want to impress upon people is that for me there is entertainment (film, games, comic books, etc.) and then there is real life and I don't intermingle the two. There are a lot of things in entertainment that I would never in a million years do and that's the point.
