There are some good deals to be had if you buy your games on Steam. For example.... one of my favorite shooters of last year, Prey is on sale for $5! If I had a PC good enough to run it... (Only my Mac is capable of running it halfway decent in low settings.. it ran good enough for me to have fun and beat it). I'd snap it up even though I already have the Mac version. If you have an intel mac and don't already have it you may be able to get the version on Steam to run in crossover games... or not if what I read is true. People at inside mac games seem to be having troubles getting most games to work in crossover games. But if you have a PC and you where mildly interested in Prey but didn't want to pay $50 or even $20 now's your chance.

Of course if you already own it you can simply register your CD key with steam and download it for free and skip having to buy it again. Then keep your original discs as a backup. I did that with the original Half-life. Although Steam has made the original Half-life discs obsolete because the version on there is updated and better than the retail version.
