It looks like the AppleTV has been hacked already. Hacked in a good way though. It turns out that the AppleTV is running a more standard OS than what I thought it might. It looks like it runs the standard Mac OS X only it has the software you need for such a device and it has a different "desktop shell" instead of the finder (for lack of a better word). With some tinkering it can become sort of a "Mac Nano". Although if what I heard is correct it still has a better video card than the Mac Mini. On that page they show that you can run a remote desktop for it and you can run SSH on it, Apache, VLC, etc... a lot of the software that you might run on a typical Mac desktop. Knowing all this there are a lot of possibilites for such a box. You can use it as a mini server for example.
I had another entry that I wrote not too long ago that I accidently overwrote with this one....... =\ I don't feel like typing it out again.
