Finally today Aspyr has released a Prey demo for the Mac. I tried it out on my Chibi Mini and surprisingly enough it runs decent enough to be fun. It runs a hell of a lot better on my Mini than it did on the Dell laptop I had to try the demo out on before. I was playing the game and I hadn't even noticed that I had character shadows on and it was still running pretty good. I have since turned off those shadows and it runs a little better even that way.

I just noticed the "multiprey" portion of the Prey demo lets you try out weapons you can't try out in single player because there isn't enough of the game for you to encounter them, such as the acid shotgun which is an awesome gun and the scorpion chaingun. I just don't have anyone to challenge to a multiprey session. =p

Either way I would like the full version of the game although I don't relish having to pay full price ($50USD+) for the game when on the PC you can now get it for a bargain. Look at that, 20 dollars with extras! On the Mac it's 45 dollars. But that happens a lot when a game is brought to the Mac we don't get any discounts.

Maybe I'll ask for a copy for my birthday though and by then I will be able to find a deal on the Mac version.

I can just imagine how good the game plays on a intel iMac or Mac Pro having played it on my Mac Mini and seeing how well it plays there. They should install it on the Macs at CompUSA so I can try it out on the 24 inch iMac.

*update* It's official.. I'm hooked on Prey. I MUST get me a copy of the full version. If I could I'd get me a copy both for the Mac and for the PC. I've played through all five levels over and over and I'm wanting to continue on with the story.
