I caught the tail end of Return of The Jedi on HBO tonight. At first I was ok with the added CG footage that George Lucas added to the trilogy but after watching this one I'm not so sure about that. I think that good old fashioned ship models have a look that CG can't match. So in the special editions you get scenes that look like the original but then you also have scenes that look like the newer trilogy. I also don't like how they changed the ending and put in Hayden Christensen into the final scene.... *shudders*. I also want to hear the old Ewok celebration song. I would like a version of the original Trilogy that has the picture restored like the special editions but with no CG added. They have come out with a newer set that has the original versions of the movies included but I think those are lower quality transfers from the laserdisc version made without any restoration done to the picture. The way I would like it is somewhere in between the special edition and that edition.
I just read Lucas was impressed by Hayden Christensen's peformance for that final scene. I'm kind of like what's so great about it? He just stands there and smirks... evilly I might add. I know what the explanation is but I don't like it.
