It just wouldn't be right if I didn't write a livejournal entry expressing my love for the game Alice Madness Returns which came out this month. So here it is. I've been playing it these past few days and in terms of content it has practically everything I could want in an alice game. Steampunk, gothic, asian, demented toy theme, card themed areas, etc. etc. The Mise en scène made me think of those stop motion movies like Coraline, Nightmare Before Christmas, James and The Giant Peach, and The Corpse Bride. But I actually think Alice Madness Returns is funner than most of those particularly because it's fully interactive unlike a movie.

I don't have any screenshots here because I was playing it on my home theater PC and print screen isn't working for this game and I don't know if it has a built in screenshot function like other games do.

In particular I noticed the reissue of this game that goes with Alice Madness Returns isn't just a straight port. Apart from the apparent new gamepad support it has they also re-skinned many of the main characters to have higher resolution skins (and possibly detail texutres if you look closely at some of them like alice's).

The wallpaper is from a muramasa: the demon blade art pic from deviantart. I've been playing that game lately in Wii emulation and I like it quite a bit. Kind of makes me think of a japanese fully 2D Alice game in a way. ;) I got very distracted by Alice Madness Returns and Duke Nukem Forever on the PC though so I haven't completed it yet.

The "Marie Thumb" is a USB Flash drive which I've been filling up with MP3s so my parents can make use of the USB functionality on their car stereo... when you plug a USB device with storage that has music files on it they automatically play on there.

Here's a desktop shot of a different kind... here's a (admittedly bad since it was taken via a web cam hooked up to my old mac mini which is in the vicinity of it) photo of the PC setup I use to play PC games that I can't play on my own computer.
