I haven't ever answered one of these before but I just had to answer this one. Tides are certainly affected by the moon. They say anyone who works in emergency services would tell you yes it does. They say incidents go up during a full moon. I was actually talking about this one time with my family. I told them that I'm not certain that a full moon changes peoples brain chemistry or anything causing them to act weird. However I can imagine that most people who do go crazy during a full moon are simply using it as an excuse rather than anything mystical or again chemical in their brain going on. Has anyone done a scientific test to see whether it really is a cause? Then see if their behavior is any different during a full moon in the people who are aware of it vs. ones who are not. They could take the individuals and one month they could not let them see the full moon but in the other month give them front row seats so to speak. If our brains are affected by the moon like tides are then both should be the same regardless of whether they are aware or see the full moon or not.

My parents are convinced it is true... I'm a bit more skeptical. They are very religious though and I'm more agnostic.

A friend of mine alerted me to Enigma's latest album a few months ago. I have liked their music for a long.. long time. There are a few tracks that I like out of the newest album but this one right now is my favorite. I especially love the bass line in it.

I thought of this when I saw at the macscreenshots community this announcement:

"You all know what to do.

Holiday themed: Icons, wallpapers, widgets, extras, anything else you can think of!

And as someone of the Jewish faith, I can't stress enough how holiday doesn't have to mean Christmas! Although feel free to make it Christmas-themed if you want. But anything relating to the SEASON will be just fine. :)"

Here's the thing though. What most people think of as Christmas is actually the commercialized pine tree decorating, red suit wearing, go into debt buying gifts affair. But each time I would go to the long... boring 2 plus hours Mass with my family they would remind us that's not what christmas is all about... and they don't want people to think it's about giving gifts either. Although they do give lip service to some of those things by putting up trees depending on where you go and also inviting a token Santa to please the kids after having them sit there for two hours+ bored out of their skulls.

Those things have little to do with the actual religion actually... so it's not really religious iconography as far as I'm concerned to put a decorated evergreen tree in a wallpaper... or Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. They didn't have any of those back when they say you know who was born. I kind of compare it to Halloween. There's the commercialized, candy eating.. kitch decorating.. macabre oriented celebration... and then there's all hallows eve which is a different.. more boring thing having to do with saints.

I just find it interesting when some people... in particular ones who never grew up in that particular religion seem to think that for example the christmas tree has the same kind of role as say... a menorah in Hannukah.... so they must stay away from all decorated evergreen trees. Well, I'm here to say that it doesn't. I can understand the confusion though...

Those things where actually assimilated from "pagan" holidays to tell you the truth.

Some might say that I should give it all up completely since I'm not in the religion anymore but for me it's more of a family tradition and like I said.. most of those things hardly have anything to do with the actual religion. So I celebrate it my own way for togetherness with my family.
