I've read that Stan Winston had passed away recently. He's notable for his contributions to cinema. His forté was special effects namely animatronics and SFX makeup. If you have watched any of the following, Aliens, Predator, Edward Scissorhands, AI, Jurassic Park, ... even Iron Man you have seen his work (you can see a full list of notable films on his wiki page). This is especially true with older movies that rely more on animatronics but even today the most realistic movies are a combination of animatronics and CGI.
