One thing that might happen when a company like Apple or Microsoft takes a good idea from a third party software developer and bundles it in the OS is the third party software sometimes whithers away. Well most of the time it seems this happens after the version of the OS comes out that has the application. But right now since Apple is including a virtual desktop application in Leopard called Spaces the developer of the third party virtual desktops application "VirtueDesktops" has already called it quits. The only other two alternatives are desktop manager which hasn't been updated since forever and you control desktops which costs 30 dollars. I'm sure people are going to be running Tiger or below for quite some time after Leopard is released for one reason or another so I think applications like those shouldnt be abandoned just yet.

Update: It looks like Stardock is doing it again.. I've just read this nugget in the news for WB5.5:

"Stardock has also begun work on WindowBlinds 6 whichwill provide a host of native features to Windows Vista such as customblur effects, Sidebar skinning, glass toolbar skinning, and some newfeatures that Stardock is keeping under wraps."

And all is as it should be with Windowblinds again. I can tell though that the skinners are going to have their work cut out for them though!
