Today and last night I played a couple of other multiplayer games...

First off I played some Doom 2 which I put into COOP mode so that people can join in if they like.. it was pretty interesting because it ended up being like every once in a while a person would join the game and help me for a while. However there was a person who came in one time who was trying to enter in cheat codes and the cheat codes where only showing as chat messages because cheats don't work in multiplayer. I tried telling the person that and that person kept on trying and then finally gave up and left. Also quite a few players who joined in I guess lagged too much. I wish I knew a player who likes to play old Doom who I have a good ping to to play COOP with.

I played some Quake 3 Arena online which because there are lots of good servers out there for it I got a good connection and thusly smooth gameplay but I don't practice Q3A as much as some of the people who play it all the time so they soundly spanked me. It almost felt like it took less for them to kill me than it took for me to kill them for some reason but it may just be my imagination because I was on a server with anti-cheat punkbuster on.

Both of those games can play mixed mac and pc online.

I tried Prey again but yet again there is practically only one server that the Mac version can play on I still get bad ping to so it's not a fair match.

I played another game of Doom and set it up for COOP so players can join in if they wish. But you know what? Another one came in and attempted to do IDKFA. What gives? I guess these people aren't used to playing Doom without using cheat codes but if you look the weapons you need are in the level! I guess they aren't patient enough to find them.

Call me snooty if you must but I can't see why people like these are so afraid of the cannon fodder monsters in Doom after all these years. They aren't afraid of other players in multiplayer which is much harder than your typical imp or former human. Also monsters in newer games are a lot tougher than these monsters. The only monsters that are formidable enough to be a threat are the bosses but if you can circle strafe even they aren't too bad.

Perhaps they have gotten so used to using cheat codes that they don't know any other way so they turn on the cheat codes even if they don't need them. It suits me just fine that cheat codes are disabled in multiplayer. This is to make sure people don't turn them on and turn things into a pointless match.

It's time to retire the cheats in Doom people.
