The Price of MP3 Players
Dec. 30th, 2006 10:08 pmIs it just me or have the prices of MP3 players been jacked up lately? It seems so at Walgreens anyway. For example they have the MP3 player I own stocked which is sort of like a faux white 1st gen iPod Mini with 256MB of flash memory there now for nearly 60 dollars. I payed around 30-40 dollars when I bought it.
As an update to that they also have a dark grey and dark silver slimmer faux iPod look alike with a built in rechargable battery from the same company with 512MB and voice recording for 80 dollars now. Considering how you don't have to always be buying AAA batteries for the second player and it has more space you can hold twice as much music on it I say it's the better deal especially with the extra features. It would also look better next to my flat panel monitor and cordless phone which have a similar color scheme.
Either way though they are expensive I think the older white player should be around 30 dollars and the second player should be around 40-50 dollars.
I bet though you can find better deals online and perhaps bigger capacities... I see an interesting one on that site already. Which is pretty cool if you have spare memory cards lying around that you can fill up with songs and take with you on the go. But I like the style of that 512MB audio solutions MP3 player more.
By the way, you have to take the number of songs they say a player can hold with a grain of salt. On a 256MB player on average you can fit about 30-40 songs depending on quality\size and their quote of hundreds of songs is based on if you are putting in low quality short songs. On the 512MB player I'd say I'd be able to fit around 70 songs, and on a 1GB player about 140 songs.
