This is probably a number of years late and probably no one cares but.....

Remember how (on the PC) the original Unreal Tournament GOTY edition came with a second disk with higher resolution compressed textures that you can optionally install? Well if you install them and that's it you actually won't see them in the game unless you switch to and possibly upgrade the opengl driver for the game, switch to opengl from the regular preferences then hit the tilde at the main menu and type in preferences bringing up advanced preferences and under renderer look under the opengl tree and enable the advanced features such as S3TC to enable those higher resolution graphics you installed. Some of my friends installed the package without doing the steps to enable the textures but thought they saw them anyway because they got confused seeing the overlay detail textures which weren't present in the ahem.... evaluation version. But the S3TC textures makes it look even better allthough still not UT2004 by any means.

I just felt like playing the original UT after all these years so I was playing around with it again on my el cheapo laptop which believe it or not even a integrated graphics chip is enough for the game with those added textures and at full detail nowadays.
