Youtube proves that HD isn't important?
Nov. 3rd, 2006 12:44 amLink This is the quote that I kind of have a problem with:
"The panelists also question early adoption of high-definition content citing YouTube's viral popularity despite its low video fidelity."
I don't know about anyone else but me liking to see videos on youtube has nothing to do with not caring about quality and more because of ease of availability and quick loading-uh..ness of videos on there. I do care about quality quite a bit but if an intereseting clip is available on youtube then I don't deprive myself of seeing it and it sometimes even makes me want to seek out a higher quality version if there is one.
A person on the comments there said they think of youtube as the fast food of video but I more think of it as the quick finger food snack of video. It doesn't replace a full meal but it can take the edge off hunger until you are able to get a full meal.
Perhaps for a lot of average joe six pack users out there he might be right but not about people like me.
Actually when you come down to it I kind of imagine people saying the same sort of things when TV went color.
