I watched "Across The Universe" tonight in its cable premiere. That movie always looked interesting to me when I would see the previews for it at the dollar movies a while back. I liked it, although it was pretty long and it dragged on at some spots like musicals tend to do. It also takes a long time to get to the song I was most looking forward to, "Hey Jude". The one they always played in the previews. The music was the best part of the movie it was very well done in my opinion.

There are quite a few scenes that are beautiful and have good special effects. I don't know if I would say the plot is the best but they did a fair job of crafting it around The Beatles songs they chose. I recorded it in my DVR so I can watch it again later.

This movie was less like a broadway production than movies like "Chicago", "Moulin Rouge!" and "The Producers" and that's actually a good thing in my opinion. Out of all four of those movies I like this movie, and "The Producers" the best (especially since John Barrowman is in it, he rocks!). Then out of the last ones I prefer "Chicago" over "Moulin Rouge!" The latter having some good things going for it but I can't stand its plot. The former is less cringe worthy. But they aren't the topic of this so I digress.. I liked "Across The Universe".

Recently I have found a couple of screenshots of the work in progress ribbon UI that looks like it's going to be the style that Microsoft is moving their applications to in Windows 7. We first saw this UI in Microsoft Office 2007. The person who created that interface "Julie Larson-Green" came over from the Office team to work with the Windows 7 team.
