And wonder what they are thinking. I just read recently a guy suggesting that Epic Games do a version of the editing tools for Unreal Tournament 3 for 360. I'm like... yeah right... and I bet he wants for them to port Photoshop and 3D Studio Max to the 360 and bundle it with the game to go with it. There's more to making mods than running UnrealEd and there's more to having a system capable of editing it than being able to run the game. The PS3 has a version of Linux for it but I would bet you not many people run it and even if they do the firmware on the PS3 doesn't allow you accelerated access to the graphics card so that's a no go for anything game related under PS3 Linux. If they want for the mod scene to survive and thrive they better hope that companies like Epic continue to support the PC because that's where the mods are made. The editing tools are being made for PC and Mac so they better learn to love their PC and Mac gaming cousins because any mod they might be able to download to their consoles are made by a PC\Mac person.

Feb. 6th, 2007 02:46 amThey are using Unreal Engine 3 for it. I can't say I didn't see this coming when Midway licenced the Unreal Engine 3. Also Ed Boon the creator of the game says he wants to make it with a grittier look kind of like Gears of War. I'm glad too ever since MK3 they have made the game too cartoony in my opinion.. the latest ones have got better but this will only be even better than that. I hope that by using the Unreal Engine 3 that they will bring it to the PC too like other games so far that are using that engine are (except GoW of course). I'm cautiously optimistic though and I'm not holding my breath but maybe.. just maybe it will. Particularly with the Games For Windows program and how part of the certification is putting in gamepad support.
