Girl Geeks on The Rise?
This page says that more and more girls are getting into things such as, "Some activities, such as using a DVR to record a TV show, or streaming movies or games, are more popular amongst women than men". They ask their male readers if that has "happened" to them. OK first of all just because women are using stuff like that more that doesn't automatically mean it should affect men in any way. Let's say more gadgets came out with the female aesthetic sense in mind. Does that mean less gadgets "for males"? That makes me think of the childish zero sum reasoning thing again. "If little Johnny gets a fire truck that means one less fire truck for me!"
Just because someone is doing something that doesn't mean it's, "happening to you".
Why should females have to be afraid of all that stuff anyway? Is technology a He-man Woman Haters club? Some people are also under the mistaken impression that Apple's products are meant for women because they look nice. This makes me think of the whole thing where people think all men have bad taste, shouldn't be the least big concerned with their appearance and women are all the complete opposite. I find that reality is a mixed bag and it should be that way.
Also does this actually say more about women or about technology's increasing pervasiveness in the home\workplace?
*icon chosen* Martha Jones, because I don't think she's afraid of any gadget\technology.
