I almost can imagine some people groaning at me talking about this again but I don't see why people fail to see that more games are coming out for the PC than MMOs, RPGs, and things like that. Whenever I see an advertisement for a game a lot of times there is also a little PC logo there showing how it's coming out to the PC too. This even includes games like
Devil May Cry 4 which is going to be released on PC, PS3 and 360 simultanious.
But the perception is that those games aren't coming out for the PC but they are. Also if PC gaming was dieing then why do so many people talk about it it's always a hot topic wherever it is being talked about I have noticed. But the PC does have its ups and downs whenever a new set of consoles come out and this time around is no exception and people are always talking the same. They are talking about the game industry this year on the PC being a 1 billion dollar industry at retail (not download counting online game sales) which shows a resurgence from where it was in the past couple of years. Which is still nowhere near the 9 billion at retail that consoles are getting but it's still quite the chunk of change in my opinion.
But one thing I hated is how a certain person went to the forums for the game Crackdown and asked if they are going to make a PC version and they told him to just get a 360. Sure there are always console exclusives but there are always lots of titles coming to the PC more than some people would like to believe. Plus if you want you can always get into emulators and that opens up lots of games too although older games but they run with ehnanced graphics most of the time.
Other gaming stuff:
I just read that American McGee is working on a new fairy tale based game called "Grimm" being written by the same guy who wrote the story for Alice and it's going to be sold on gametap. It'll be interesting to see them make that sort of game again I really liked Alice.
I'm looking forward to Serious Sam 3 and seeing what kind of improvements are going to be in the serious sam 3 engine. From what I have seen so far it seems like it might match the UE3 in all the things that it can do.
Penumbra Overture is an interesting looking game.
There are of course more games I'm interested in but I'll save that for later since this post has gotten pretty long already.
Oh except for: I've just read recently that it's official that Enemy Territory Quake Wars is also coming to the Mac being ported by the usual suspect Aspyr. I'm glad since the requirements wil be around the same as for Quake 4 and it looks like it might be a fun game.
